The Moonlight Sonata is one of Beethoven's most popular and enduring works. It's formal name is Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia".
The Italian phrase "Quasi una fantasia" or "like a fantasy" may have been added to the title because the composition does not follow the traditional sonata form.
This piano composition sounds enchanting on the harp, because the harp has a similar resonance to the pianos of Beethoven's day.
The Beatles song "Because" from the Abbey Road album, was based upon a reversal of the chord progression of Moonlight Sonata.
